Items
Items are the building blocks for any character in Path of Exile 2. They can drop from monsters or chests or be purchased from or sold to vendors for GoldGold.
Magic and rare items have random modifiers (affixes) which grant various stats. Unique items have predetermined, often unusual modifiers with distinct names and artwork.

Equipment can be equipped by a character to boost their offensive and defensive stats.

Waystones allow entry into maps. Special tokens grant entry to Ascension Trials. Map fragments allow difficult endgame bosses to be challenged.

Crafting
Currency items serves various functions, most notably in trading with other players and crafting on equipment, trinkets, and waystones.
The Disenchanter and Salvage Bench provide ways to convert found items into currency.

Characters
The twelve (currently six) character classes are distinguished by:
- Start location on the passive skill tree
- Base attributes
- Ascendancy classes
- Appearance, dialogue, and lore
Passive Skill Tree
Passive skills grant stats like attributes, damage, and defences.
Keystones grant powerful unusual effects at a cost.
Jewels can be crafted and placed into jewel sockets to grant customised bonuses.
Ascendancy Classes
Ascendancy classes provide even more ways to strengthen and customise your character if you can clear the difficult Ascension Trials of the different cultures of Wraeclast.

Skill gems can be placed in your Skills Panel and assigned to your keybinds.

Use uncut gems to create skill and support gems in any combination you like.
