Demon Form is a shapeshifting skill granted by the Infernalist ascendancy notable Demonic Possession that allows the player to Shapeshift into a Demon. While transformed, you gain a large bonus to spellcasting, but lose life over time. While transformed, you gain stacks of Demonflame over time, which increases spell damage but causes life loss over time.
Skill functions and interactions
Shapeshifting skills disable both your weapon slots while transformed. They also grant a third weapon set passive skill tree option.
- Demon Form will automatically deactivate when:
- Player at 1 Life, making it incompatible with Chaos Inoculation.
- Player dies, regardless of the amount of current life (in Trial of the Sekhemas, for example).
- Player starts creating a Portal.
- Player starts reviving a downed teammate.
- Player uses any skill that is not a Spell or Warcry.
Demonflame is considered life loss, not damage. As a result, it cannot be redirected to other resources such as Mind Over Matter or mitigated through damage reduction. Demonflame will interrupt energy shield recharge (or life recharge with Eternal Youth).
As Demonflame life loss is based on maximum life, Demon Form can be easier to manage by combining flat life regeneration with #% reduced Maximum Life, such as from Ming's Heart or
Couture of Crimson.
Each stack of Demonflame has a minimum of 1 Life loss per second.
