Item class: Support Gem

Minion Instability is a support gem.

Mechanics and Interactions

The explosion is an area hit from the minion, dealing secondary damage. Its base critical strike chance is 0%.

Minions summoned from the Supported Skill must be reduced to Low Life to explode. Anything that causes a minion to die without ever having low life (e.g. dying in 1 hit, replacement, expiring duration) will not cause an explosion. Minions summoned from supported skills that are set to low life when spawned will explode instantly.

Minion Instability does not scale with the Gain X% of Damage as Y modifier. Nodes such as Seething Body do not increase the explosion damage of Minion Instability.[Likely due to a bug][citation needed]

Modifiers

Minions do not have the player's global stats; player stats have to be specific for minions or allies to directly affect the explosion. Stats from Auras, Sceptres, and Presence modifiers will continue to apply to nearby minions as they explode.

Because support gems affect all minions summoned from that minion skill, this support can be modified by other support gems despite itself not being a skill. The additional support gems need to be compatible with the supported minion skill, and said support gem's stats need to be compatible with the explosion's damage.
