Shield Charge is a shield channelling attack skill that makes the user charge in the target direction. Upon hitting an enemy or terrain the charge stops, dealing physical damage around the user. During the charge, the character is considered to have their shield raised.

Skill functions and interactions

While your Shield is raised during the charge, Blocking Hits fills your Stagger bar based on the damage the Hit would have dealt. If the bar fills completely, you are Stunned and cannot take actions for a short time.

Despite it being an attack skill, the attack damage % used by Shield Charge is derived explicitly from the base off hand physical damage inherent to the gem itself. The amount of damage listed on a weapon in the main hand will not contribute to the Shield Charge damage. Mods such as X% increased Elemental Damage with Attacks found on main hand weapons, however, will increase the damage of Shield Charge if it is supported by Fire Infusion, Cold Infusion, or Lightning Infusion.

Focusing on the Armour value of your shield is one of the methods for scaling Shield Charge damage.

Passive tree nodes that contain the text X% increased Defences from Equipped Shield such as Towering Shield, Core of the Guardian, Spiked Shield, and Flashy Deflection do not impact Shield Charge damage. Instead, they modify the final Armour value added to the character rather than the implicit Armour value of the shield itself.

Even though the description states that the skill raises your Shield, Shield Charge does not activate Magma Barrier.[Likely due to a bug]

Channelling Shield Charge counts as having your shield lowered, allowing your Stagger bar to deplete despite accruing stagger while using the skill.[Likely due to a bug]
