Tame Beast is a minion skill that engulfs a rareBeastmonster category monster with hindering wisps for a duration, and cause a Beast killed while affected by these wisps to be captured and turned into a companionpermanentminion. Doing so will convert this gem into an account-bound gem called Companion: <Monster Name> with the same level and quality. This new gem can also be referred to as Summon Beast.
Beasts captured through Tame Beast will retain up to 4 regular monster modifiers, chosen at random if the monster has more than 4. It does not retain other monster modifier effects such as possession by an Azmerian wisp. These monster modifiers make this skill more support-oriented than Bind Spectre through beneficial or detrimental aura effects or buffs/debuffs. Players are limited to a maximum of one companion of any type at a time.
Summon Beast has a spiritreservation that varies depending on the power of the monster that was bound. The quality of this gem is changed to (0–10)% reduced Reservation and the gem loses the duration tag.
If the Tame Beast gem is corrupted, the process of conversion into the Summon Beast gem will remove the corrupted tag and any associated corruption outcomes. The one exception to this is a change in gem quality, which is retained despite the corrupted tag being removed. Due to this it is possible to have a Summon Beast gem that has both 23% Quality and +1 to Level from Corruption.[Likely due to a bug]
Summon Beast is account-bound; this prevents the item from being traded to or picked up by other players. It can still be stored in your stash and transferred to your other characters.
It is currently not possible to revert Summon Beast back into Tame Beast; however, this will be possible in an upcoming patch.[1]
