Armour Break

Some Skills, Items, Support Gems, and other effects can Break Armour, which lowers a target's Armour below by a specified amount. If this brings the target's Armour value to 0, their Armour is Fully Broken for 12 seconds, or 4 seconds for players. On top of not benefitting from Armour, targets with Fully Broken Armour take 20% increased Physical damage from Hits.

Enemies with Armour Broken below 0 have negative Armour. This means they take more Physical damage from Hits. Armour broken below 0 is capped by the enemy's base Armour.

Armour Break is a debuff that reduces Armour by a specified amount. When the target's Armour is reduced to 0 by this effect, they will have Fully Broken Armour, which interacts with certain effects.

Mechanics

Armour Break lasts for 12 seconds, after which the debuff is removed. If the target's armour value reaches 0 from this, the debuff is replaced with "Fully Broken Armour" which lasts 12 seconds (4 seconds on players). Reapplying Armour Break on a target will refresh the duration of the debuff, but any further Armour Break will not be applied while the target has Fully Broken Armour.

Fully Broken Armour also causes the affected target to take 20% increased physical damage from hits. This does not affect player characters.

The amount of armour broken is tripled against Normal monsters and doubled against Magic monsters.

The Warbringer passive Imploding Impacts allows Armour to be broken below 0. The maximum amount of negative armour a target can have is the inverse of its original Armour value; for example, an enemy with 1000 armour can be broken up to -1000 Armour. Negative Armour grants a damage multiplier rather than a damage reduction at the same ratio. Mechanics that interact with Fully Broken Armour will function the same way against targets with negative Armour.
