Crowd control refers to skills or debuffs which help deal with large numbers of weaker monsters, usually in a defensive sense.
Crowd control effects include debuffs like slow, stun, freeze and electrocute. It can also include knockback and anything which creates obstacles to block enemy movement or projectiles.
Clear speed usually refers to the offensive side of dealing with swarms.
