Early Access
Early Access refers to the period of Path of Exile 2 between the first release of the game for public download on December 6, 2024, to the official release of the game in Version 1.0.0. It is estimated to last at least six months.[1]
Eligibility
In order to play Early Access, players had to redeem a key on the official website that can be obtained through a few methods:
- Have spent a total of $480 USD equivalent or more on microtransactions on an account at any point during the lifetime of Path of Exile[2]
- Purchase the first tier ($30 USD) or higher Core Path of Exile 2 Access Supporter Pack launched prior to the release of Early Access[3]
- Gifted by GGG to users with significant contributions to the game/community
Random keys may also be given away throughout the Early Access period.
A PC, Xbox Series X, or Playstation 5 is required to play. Early Access Keys do not transfer across platforms. If you want to play Path of Exile 2 Early Access on a certain platform (PC / PlayStation / Xbox), you will need to purchase a Supporter Pack on that same platform.
Additional information can be found in the official FAQ.
Game structure
Acts 1-3 (out of 6 acts total) will be available in early access. Acts 4-6 will be added throughout early access. To bridge the gap between Act 3 and the endgame, a second difficulty level, Cruel, will be added, which will be the first three acts levelled up and with new rewards. The Cruel difficulty will be removed on full release.
Major features
6 character classes (Warrior, Mercenary, Ranger, Monk, Witch, and Sorceress) and 2 ascendancy per class will be initially available at the start of the game. Additional classes, ascendancies, and act and endgame content will be released in subsequent patches leading up to the official release.
The Druid and Huntress are the next classes to be released post-Early Access launch.
During early access, the campaign will have two difficulty levels. After completing Act 3, the players must complete the first three acts on Cruel difficulty before they can access the endgame.
Previously purchased stash tabs and microtransactions from Path of Exile 1 that are compatible with content released in Path of Exile 2 are automatically applied from the start of Early Access.
