An Off Hand or off-hand is a category of equipment that can exclusively be equipped in the Off Hand slot (right weapon slot). They can provide a variety of offensive or defensive benefits depending on the specific item class.
Mechanics
Off-hands are further categorized into three item classes:
- Shields, which grant Armour or hybrid Armour defences and chance to block. All basetypes also grant the Raise Shield skill.
- Foci (or Focus), which grant energy shield but no block and can roll caster modifiers.
- Quivers, which primarily roll modifiers to enhance bows.
Sceptres are considered weapons but can also be equipped in the off-hand slot with any other one-handed weapon except another sceptre.
Off-hands cannot normally be used with two-handed martial weapons, though it is possible to do so with two-handed swords, axes, or maces with Giant's Blood allocated.
Shields, bucklers, and foci are also considered armour.
