Excavated Chests
Excavated Chests are a key feature of the Expedition mechanic, uncovered by detonating explosives during an Expedition encounter. These chests contain various rewards, including Expedition Artifacts, Exotic Coinage and other valuable items.
Mechanics
- Chests are buried and must be unearthed by strategically placing explosives on the Expedition map.
- Detonating explosives unearths the chests and spawns nearby Runic monsters that must be defeated before the chests can be looted.
- Each chest provides randomised loot and can include Expedition artifacts (e.g.,
Order Artifact) or other valuable items.
Runic Monster Interaction
- Excavated Chests are typically guarded by Runic monsters, which are spawned upon unearthing the chest.
- Monsters vary in difficulty based on the Expedition location and the number of Remnants included in the explosion.
Tips
- Plan your explosive placement to unearth multiple chests with a single detonation when possible.
- Be cautious when detonating explosives in densely populated areas, as large groups of Runic monsters can be challenging to handle.
- Prioritise chests in areas with fewer modifiers to reduce the risk of dangerous monster buffs.
