Vaal Orb is a currency item that corrupts an item, modifying it unpredictably and preventing it from being further modified.

Mechanics

Vaal Orbs always entail a risk: they can greatly improve an item but they can also change it for the worse. Only one of the effects listed for each type of item below may happen.

Equipment

• No effect (other than adding the Corrupted property).
• Reroll up to half of the item's explicit modifiers.
• Add a special Vaal enchantment to the item.
• Add an additional socket.

Item acquisition

Vaal Orb has restrictions on where or how it can drop.

Can be obtained as a reward in the Trial of Chaos.
