Soul cores are items that can be socketed into martial weapons and armour. Socketed soul cores will add enchantment modifiers to their items, granting rare or unusual offensive modifiers to martial weapons and defensive modifiers to armour. Once socketed, soul cores cannot be removed. Soul cores are exclusive to the Trial of Chaos and are mechanically identical to runes.
