Monsters can have modifiers which increase their danger and rewards.

Explicit modifiers

Magic monsters have one affix; rare monsters have three affixes[citation needed], one of which may be an aura. This system is similar to rarity on items, in that magic monsters have their affix added to their name and rare monsters are given a randomly generated name. For more information see Rarity#Monsters.

  • The 'Siphons Flask Charges Modifier' on Monsters now drains ten-times less Flask Charges per second. (This was unintentional).
  • Disabled the Volatile Crystals Modifier, to be revised in the future pending telegraphing improvements.
  • The Trail of Fire monster Modifier now deals 30% less Damage and lasts for 3 seconds (from 5 seconds).
  • The Trail of Lightning monster Modifier now lasts for 4 seconds (from 8 seconds).
  • The Trail of Ice monster Modifier now lasts for 4 seconds (from 8 seconds).
  • The Purple Explosives created by the Volatile Plants Modifier on Rare Monsters now deal significantly less Damage.

  • Reduced the defenses provided to monsters by the Magma Barrier modifier.

  • Monster Modifiers now grant higher amounts of Item Rarity and Item Quantity. This is most common on Magic and Rare enemies, but also affects Unique Enemies if applied through various Endgame Mechanics like the Deadly Evolution Keystone. (Doubled rarity bonus per mod, +10% quantity per mod[1])
  • Increased the chance for Rare Monsters in Maps to have 3 or 4 modifiers.

  • (Hotfix 7) Reduced the amount of energy shield monsters gain from the Rare Modifier "Extra Energy Shield"
