Web browsers normally retain local copies of all of the scripts, stylesheets and files that you download. Occasionally, you may need to tell your browser to bypass its local cache for a certain webpage, downloading everything again from scratch. This can sometimes fix certain display glitches. Clearing your cache is necessary after installing any user styles or scripts on this wiki.
Refresh and bypass cache
On most desktop browsers it is fairly simple to refresh a webpage and bypass its local cache. This is sometimes called a "hard refresh". The simplest method that will work for most users is to hold down the ⇧ Shift key and click the Reload toolbar button. Other methods are listed below.
Google Chrome
Methods for Windows and Linux:
- Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key
- Hold the ⇧ Shift key and press the F5 key
- Hold the Ctrl and ⇧ Shift keys, then press the R key
- Hold the Ctrl key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar
