This template is used to escape a right square bracket character "]" in wikitext, where it would otherwise be interpreted as a special character. Typically this is used when "]" is needed as part of a wiki link.

The HTML character code ] may be used instead of this template in situations where it should never be interpreted as anything except a literal character.
