This page is about sockets on equipment. For other uses, see Socket.

Item sockets are slots found on equipment such as armours or martial weapons into which certain items can be placed.

Mechanics

Item sockets can hold runes or soul cores, which add an enchantment to the item. Both runes and soul cores grant offensive modifiers to martial weapons and defensive modifiers to armour. Once socketed, runes and soul cores cannot be removed.

Sockets can be increased through the use of an Artificer's Orb. Body armours and two-handed weapons can have up to 2 maximum sockets, while other types of armour and martial weapons can have up to 1.

An additional item socket can also be added as result of corruption, such as using a Vaal Orb, bypassing the usual limit.
